Working on My New PC

I had thought about getting this computer fixed and even looked around for a guy who does computer repair for Calgary or more specifically for Red Deer where I am living right now. After a bit I decided that it did not really make that much sense to put a big sum of money into fixing this computer. I have had it for three years and then some, in fact I got from my parents for Christmas the year before I left for college. They probably spent about six hundred dollars (Canadian) on this machine and that was not that great of a bargain.

Play Me

  1. Play Me
    Event on 2014-07-08 00:00:00

Project Q.U.A.D, supported by Southgate, presents Play Me, an innovative and expansive program of Melbourne's best video art, animation and short films programmed throughout July at Southgate Cinema, Melbourne's only silent cinema.

Project Q.U.A.D has selected an eclectic range of moving image artworks screening Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings in July. Audiences are invited to sit and watch or capture passing glimpses of a unique variety of visual feasts.

Showcasing more than 20 works from Melbourne filmmakers, video artists and animators, Play Me brings art out of its usual exhibition space and utilises the public space of Southgate as a platform to introduce broader audiences to Melbourne's diverse world of video art and independent film.

For Narrative Tuesdays, audiences are invited to take a seat, plug in a pair of earphones and watch a number of short films by Melbourne filmmakers. The works from young filmmakers range in theme and style, from documentaries to more abstract storytelling. Highlights include Paco Pictures' 'Side by Side' which follows a boy and girl, side by side, yet alone together in a world surrounded by the banal and beauty of the absurd and Nathan Ceddia's 'Sneeze Art', which explores the fictitious character Sean Willow, a veteran sneeze artist, who has, until now, kept his painting technique a secret.

Wednesday and Thursday nights dish up a number of irrepressible video artworks with non-linear narratives.

"This was a very eye-opening, meaningful, and intensive workshop! I'm so happy that Purple Lotus University opened this workshop and found such a talent! Dr. Zhao is a very wonderful and patient instructor, blending humor into his class, so learning was entertaining and easy to understand. He was very knowledgeable in many natural healing topics, able to answer all of our questions. I really appreciated the real case studies he provided and our live demonstrations too. I've already helped someone with their chronic neck pains using what we've learned in class!"

A Nice Alternative to the Train

My wife wanted to do a few things around town that did not mesh well with my own schedule. That is important since we only have one car, but there was just no way for either of us to alter our schedules since things were set in stone. Normally, she would just take the train where she needs to go, but it would not be possible this time because of everything she had to take with her. I suggested that we look into a company that does car rental in Singapore. It turned out to be exactly what we needed!

Since neither of us have ever done this before, we were not sure how much something like this would cost.

Are You Happy with Your Job

The Internet. It has changed everything, hasn’t it? For many of us it simply represents an enhancement to our lives in how we go about our day to day activities. It makes things easier. We can find nearly any answer to any subject we can propose to Bing or Google. We can store data in amounts that we only dreamed of twenty years ago. We can save every tiny bit about our lives. Yet, for me, it’s the ability to work wherever I might go in my life that has helped me. Whether I’m working for www.store-friendly.com.sg as a back end developer or whether I’m working on the United Human Resource Project for Microsoft, I’m able to find work.

This is not something that everyone can say. I’m not even a college educated individual in the most traditional of senses. True, I do have something of a college education but that education stems from the MOOCs that I have been utilizing to expand my knowledge for the past ten years. I don’t have a fancy piece of paper telling the rest of the world that I put down tens of thousands of dollars in order to receive an education and thus I’m a hirable individual. No, I lack that.

It’s made it harder, there is no doubt that. But all that means is that I have had to learn to work in a way that most people do not. They don’t have the freedom of flexibility that I’ve gained. I’ve just had to modify my life, adapt to the changes and pressures, and go with the flow. A little extra planning certainly helps along the way. I might not be rich. I might not be famous But I am happy – can you say the say the same for yourself?

Don’t Go Bald if You Have a Chance

PROFESSIONAL brazillian keratin HAIR STRAIGHTENING treatmentIf you’re a guy who has lost his hair, you know what it’s like post-hair. Other guys always seem to look down at you; it’s not really their fault, you know. It’s an instinctive ingrained reaction – both men and women are going to judge a man who has no hair as someone who is less virile. We associate baldness with aging and all that comes with the associations of aging itself. It’s a hard stereotype to shake off. That’s why when I noticed that my hair was growing thin, I started Keratin treatment in Singapore at the very first opportunity that I could.

It cost me a pretty penny but with consistent treatments I have been able to stave off my baldness despite the receding hairline that I’ve had since I was 20. There’s simply nothing that can be done about that, despite all my pleas and prayers. Sometimes genetics are not going to rule in your favor. I’ll be honest here; Keratin treatment is not for everyone. It’s going to work for a lot of guys (and women!) but some of us are out of luck with Keratin. There’s still hope yet but it might be some time before you can see that hope.

No doubt you are aware of just how much money is sunk into hair loss treatments if you have been doing your research (which I assume you have since you’re here). A lot of the technology is exciting, some of it crazy, some of it completely unlikely to ever work but if Keratin didn’t do the job for you, you’ll at least have options ahead of you. Don’t give up; your hair is important for your happiness. For most of us, our social lives diminish when we go bald while our depression increases in return. It’s not worth it.

With Luck and Skill Comes Profit

It’s only been two weeks into our venture here in Singapore but within hours of stepping off the plane, finding office space for rent in Singapore and setting everything up, we already had potential partners arriving at our doors. Since this was an incredibly impulsive decision made with only minimal data to go by and a gut feeling tugging us toward new prospects, I was nervous about the journey. Only one of us currently has any experience with Singapore and doing business here in Asia which has turned out to be the saving grace of our little project. Without him we would be conducting business like a bunch of fools.

When Sang came to us originally with the idea of moving our little game design studio to Singapore, I thought he was crazy. And yet, when he began to outline the reasons why; the massive economic boom in the area, the lack of game design studios and with an undeniable industry that is progressive growing every year, I started to see the vision that had so captured Sang’s imagination. Business has been great so far. With a strong mobile market, we plan on shifting priority toward mobile platform games and hopefully capturing the attention of the youth here.

I have to believe in luck. Luck plays an important role in all things; chance is a very real thing and the odds of some of events coming together are just so astronomical that they can only be ‘luck’. Without Sang joining our crew and without his prior experience in Singapore matching up with our own talents, goals and impulsive natures we would have never been able to find the success that we are currently enjoying. Without a doubt it’s our collective skills that are helping to navigate the way but it’s luck that has brought us together.

I Needed an MBA Degree to Advance

Hotels near - University of ChesterMy boss pulled me aside about a year ago to give me some confidential information that he didn’t want readily known by everyone in our organization. His second-in-command was going to take an early retirement, and the board of directors had suggested a replacement that he was not comfortable with. He wanted to groom me to fill that position, but he knew that I would be a hard sell because I did not have an MBA like the person they wanted has. He knew that he would have the final say, but he wanted the blessings of the board. The only thing holding that back was my lack of an MBA degree.

He had done some research and saw where a local school offers a program where I could earn my degree without having to attend classes full time. He was confident that I would be able to handle the classes as well as my work duties that I was already assigned to, and I was humbled over his confidence in me. I looked over the program that he wanted me to enroll in, and I was impressed with everything that I read about the school and the program too.

I knew that it would be hard to do everything together, and that is another reason why this school really impressed me. They understand that people going for this degree are sometimes already in the work field, and that time is a very precious commodity for them. They make it easy to study for this degree while maintaining all the other aspects of home and work too. It was not the easiest thing I have done, but it was one of the most fulfilling. I am due to get my degree in just a few months, and the board has already given their blessings for me to step into the second top role in our company.
